Fortisphere Virtual Service Manager is a virtualization management solution with a unique, customer-driven approach to the operational management of virtual environments.

VSM implements a service management framework within which IT can optimize the two key elements of operational management by:

• Maximizing customer satisfaction with their virtual machines
• Optimizing the use of IT resources, including hardware, software, and headcount

Maximizing customer satisfaction requires keeping things up and running, fixing things rapidly, and communicating effectively with the customer. To that end, Fortisphere VSM has:

• vRadar- to automatically determine the operational relationships between clusters, hosts, VMs, networks and storage and then link these relationships with the current state of components to determine an issue's root cause and each component's impact on service
• Virtual Service Tiers - to establish agreed-upon metrics and thresholds with the application owners governing each VM in the environment
• Configuration Management – to expedite mean time to repair by providing proactive drift detection, easy configuration comparisons, and performance-configuration change correlations
• Role-Based Dashboards – to communicate on an ongoing basis with the application owner, who gains visibility into their VMs, their configurations, and their performance relative to the agreed-upon service tier.

IT must also demonstrate that it has used its resources as optimally as possible. Not only does expediting repairs and preventing calls lessen the load on administrators, but VSM also provides solutions for hardware optimization. Density Management is designed to isolate VMs which are over-allocated, and help guide administrators in right-sizing them.

Finally, supporting all this functionality is an industry-leading Intelligent Inventory capability that provides deep, real-time information on the environment, from the cluster level to deep within each guest VM.
